Where is the IIT Tirupati Academic Building?
IIT Tirupati has two Academic Buildings.
Where are the hostels located
Hostels are existing at the permanent campus to accommodate 860 students including the freshers joining in the Academic Year 2019-20 with common dining facility at IIT Tirupati permanent campus.

How do we travel between the Hostel and Academic Building?
The Institute has arranged buses/vans for students to travel from their respective hostels to the Academic Building and Workshop premises.
Where will the permanent campus be located?
The 530 acres permanent campus site is located in Merlapaka Village on Yerpedu-Venkatagiri Highway. The construction of five blocks of hostels, workshops, laboratories, computer centre, and classrooms has been completed and occupied to meet the present requirements.
Distance from various landmarks:
• 22 km from Tirupati town
• 16 km from Renigunta Junction
• 13 km from Srikalahasti Railway Station
• 14 km from the Tirupati International Airport
The campus is very well connected to the other parts of the country by road, rail, and air.
When will the permanent campus be ready?
In the first phase of campus development, a transit campus over 30 acres including hostels with 860 capacity for boys and girls, laboratory facilities, a classroom complex, a dining facility, an indoor sports arena and outdoor sports facilities has been constructed and occupied to meet the present requirements.
The permanent campus, which will eventually house 12,500 students, will be developed in phases. The Master plan for IIT Tirupati permanent campus is ready and construction activities will start soon.
Are IIT Tirupati Students eligible for Scholar Loans?

What are the chances of getting a branch change?
The process of branch change is a mechanism to change your stream of engineering in-case
you are not fully satisfied with your current line of study. Applications for branch change will be called in before your first year ends.

Is there Ragging? Do IIT TIRUPATI have policies against it?

What kind of examinations will be conducted in the first week for the freshers?
There will be an English exam in their first days here. This is only to identify those who are not so good in English and to provide them an opportunity to improve. Exam will be based on basic English grammar and this marks will not be counted in their GPA. Special Classes will be conducted for the students who scored less in the test to improve their skills in English.
What about placement?
IIT Tirupati has established a Career Development Centre (CDC) managed by a team of faculty, staff and student coordinators. The goal of the CDC is to provide a platform for holistic personality and career development as well as handle all aspects of campus placements and internships for the students.
CDC was instrumental in placing more than 75% of 2019 batch students who registered for placements across 43 leading companies with the highest package of 22 Lpa. Some of the recruiters were Honeywell Technology Solutions, Mathworks, Envestnet Yodlee, Versa Networks, Fincare, iManage, TCS, Bosch, L&T group.
The 2020 graduating batch of 113 students has officially registered 100% summer internships this year. Some of the leading companies/academic institutions which offered internships were Texas A&M University, IISc, TCS, Microsoft, Amazon, Zen3, Ashok Leyland, Alstom, Danieli, Aecom,. The students were offered diverse roles across various domains.

What is the infrastructure available in the new institute?
For the first year classes, Chemistry, Physics, Computer, Electrical laboratories and Workshop have been set up at permanent campus. A well-equipped library with access to e-journals and e-resources is available. All classrooms are equipped with desktop computers with Internet access, projectors, screens and audio systems. All the classrooms air-conditioned. A 120-seater virtual classroom with video conferencing facilities and a 1 Gbps bandwidth connection to the National Knowledge Network (NKN) is in place. This allows interactive teaching and learning with instructors anywhere in the globe. Laboratories for Civil & Mechanical Engineering are set up. Indoor and outdoor sports facilities have also been set up.
What about the faculty members who will be teaching at IIT Tirupati?
IIT Tirupati propelled its academic programmes with the help of faculty members from IIT Madras. The Institute also utilised the services of many senior faculty members retired from other IITs, and academic institutions of high repute. Currently, IIT Tirupati has 71 highly motivated young faculty members for teaching and research along with seven senior Professors. Another 14 offers have been made at the levels of Assistant, Associate Professors and Professors who are expected to join the Institute in next two months. Shortly, the total faculty strength of the Institute will reach 85. All faculty members have excellent research and teaching background. Their profiles can be viewed on this website.
